Arrange 5-6 colored cones in a semicircle at one end of a 4-6 foot tabletop or on the floor.
Prepare Picture Pattern Sample Cards with sequences of colors to match the cones.
Provide a tennis ball or small weighted rubber ball.
Optionally, include colored pencils and paper for creating custom patterns.
2. Activity Steps:
Part 1: Basic Rolling
– The Helper demonstrates rolling the ball to knock over one cone.
– The Participant practices rolling the ball to hit individual cones, aiming to knock them over.
– Repeat this sequence until the Participant is comfortable with basic rolling.
Part 2: Following Color Sequences
– The Helper shows the Participant a Color Pattern Sample Card (e.g., red, blue, yellow).
– The Participant rolls the ball, attempting to hit the cones in the sequence shown on the card.
– Repeat for 5 trials with the same sequence.
Part 3: Increasing Complexity
– The Helper gradually increases the number of colors in the sequence from 2 colors to 3-4, depending on the Participant’s progress.
– Provide verbal encouragement or gestures to assist the Participant in focusing on the correct cones.
3. Repetitions:
Start with 5 trials for each color sequence.
Adjust the number of trials based on the Participant’s comfort and success level.
Tips for Success:
Position cones securely to avoid frequent repositioning.
Use clear, simple instructions for each step.
Allow the Participant to create their own color patterns for added engagement.
Adjust the distance or ball weight to suit the Participant’s skill level.
