Provide the Child with a small racket and 2-3 bean bags of different colors.
Choose a safe and open space for the activity to allow free movement.
2. Activity Steps:
Part 1: Toss and Catch
– The Child holds the racket/net in their dominant hand.
– Using the opposite hand, the Child tosses a bean bag into the air and attempts to catch it on the racket/net.
– Repeat this sequence 5 times with the same hand.
Part 2: Switch Hands
– The Child switches the racket/net to the non-dominant hand.
– Repeat the toss and catch sequence 5 times.
Part 3: Alternate Hands
– The Child alternates hands for each toss and catch, switching the racket/net between hands.
– Perform this alternating sequence for 5-10 tosses.
3. Repetitions:
Begin with 5 tosses per hand and gradually increase to 10 tosses as the Child’s skill improves.
Tips for Success:
Use verbal encouragement to keep the Child motivated.
Start with short tosses to build confidence, then increase the height as the Child improves.
Highlight the colors of the bean bags to add a color-recognition challenge (e.g., “Catch the red one!”).
