How to Do:
1. Demonstrate: The helper (caregiver) demonstrates the crab walk to the child.
- Sit on the floor, place hands and feet on the ground, and lift your hips to create a “crab” position.
2. Practice Together: The helper and child practice the crab walk together in the following patterns:
- Forward and Backward: Walk in straight lines forward and backward for 6–8 feet. Repeat 2 times.
- Sideways: Walk sideways for 6–8 feet. Repeat 2 times.
- In Circles: Walk in a circle around a 5-foot radius. Repeat 2 times.
Tips for Success:
- Keep the pace steady and fun, encouraging the child to mimic the movements.
- Provide encouragement and gentle corrections if needed.
- Consider using a timer or playful challenges to make it more engaging.
Optional:
- Play upbeat music to add energy to the activity.
