Bubbles

How to Do:

1. Setup:

  • Select a safe and open space, free from obstacles.
  • Gather a variety of bubble wands and a container of bubble solution.
  • Position the Helper about 3 feet in front of the Participant.

2. Demonstrate:

  • The Helper blows bubbles into the air, showing how they float and land.
  • Encourage the Participant to observe the bubbles and demonstrate how to pop them using their hands, fingers, or feet.

3. Activity Steps:

  • Step 1: Popping Bubbles with Hands or Fingers
    – The Helper blows bubbles above, to both sides, and in front of the Participant.
    – The Participant reaches out to pop the bubbles using their hand or finger.
  • Step 2: Stomping Bubbles
    – The Helper blows bubbles closer to the ground.
    – The Participant uses their feet to stomp and pop the bubbles.
  • Step 3: Counting Bubbles
    – The Helper blows a small group of bubbles.
    – The Participant counts how many bubbles they can pop.

4. Repetitions:

  • Perform each step for 2-3 minutes or until the Participant is ready to move to the next step.
  • Adjust the duration based on the Participant’s energy and interest.

Tips for Success:

  • Use positive reinforcement like “Great job popping those bubbles!” to keep the Participant motivated.
  • Experiment with different bubble wands to create bubbles of various sizes.
  • Adjust the pace of blowing bubbles to match the Participant’s reaction time.
  • If the Participant struggles to pop bubbles, gently guide their hand or foot to a bubble.
