How to Do:
Trampoline Activity
1. Setup:
- Use a small indoor trampoline with a grab bar or hold the child’s hands for support.
- For outdoor use, a larger trampoline may be utilized.
2. Movements:
- Begin with simple movements:
– Jumping up and down, landing on two feet (10 repetitions).
- Introduce running or jumping in place with a “STOP” pattern:
– Count to 10, then stop.
– Repeat with different intervals (e.g., count to 10, stop; count to 5, stop).
- Use random patterns to increase alertness and engagement.
Therapy Ball/Yoga Ball Activity
1. Setup:
- Have the child sit on a large or medium therapy ball.
- The helper sits in front of the child, stabilizing the ball for safety.
2. Movements:
- Encourage the child to sit and bounce gently.
- Follow the same “Bouncing/STOP/Bouncing” patterns used in the trampoline activity.
- Introduce random stopping points to enhance alertness and focus.
Tips for Success:
- Ensure the child feels safe and supported throughout the activity.
- Use clear and enthusiastic cues to guide the movements.
